Sunday School Descriptions:

K-12 grade: Kindergarten through twelfth grade classes consists of age appropriate Bible based teaching and activities. Classes range in size from 5-20 and vary week to week.

W.I.N.G.S. - (Witness IN God’s Service) is a midweek outreach to children in the neighborhood. Each week kids receive a hot meal, hear a Bible Story, sing praise songs, play games and learn Bible verses. The children earn tickets for memorizing verses and completing activities as well as for random acts of kindness. They can then use their earned tickets to get prizes from the treasure box or save them to shop for Christmas presents for their families. Children are also rewarded with medals and pins at the end of the year for completing their books.

The Young Adult Class - (YAC) is made up of people of all ages. We range from the 20’s to near retirement. We study a variety of Bible based topics. We study different religions, current events, and what the Bible teaches us pertaining to life issues. We believe the Bible is the infallible word of God. The class has up to 20 in attendance on any given week.

L.I.F.E. - Living In Faith Eternally - A Newly formed Sunday School Class for those in college and post college. The class will be driven by class discussions and teaching based on relevant current life topics.

Ragamuffin - The Ragamuffin class is currently studying Max Lucado's book Are You Thirsty?   Our hearts are parched, dry, dehydrated.  They need moisture, a long, quenching drink.  Where do we find water for the soul, in the W-E-L-L of God's provision.  Learn with us as we receive God's Work, Energy, Lordship and Love and find the living water our souls thirst after. Open to any adults.

Koininia - In the '60s, a man named Clarence Jordan got some people together and built a community  of houses, crops, and a church. They settled in Athens, Georgia.  They  farmed cotton together, built their homes, lived, and worshipped together.  The cotton they sold in the fall helped them with money needs. The group came up with the name Koininia...meaning a group of Christians who shared their lives with each other.  Clarence was the leader and he wrote "The Cotton Patch Version of the New Testament "which was written with informal verbiage,(like Southern) but the message is the same.  A group of adults at First Baptist felt that Koininia would be a good name for us.  Our class was rather large at the time and we loved each other and even came together socially from time to time. We had people with leadership skills who, would take turns teaching the Sunday School class. We, unfortunately didn't have a Clarence Jordan but we enjoyed knowing of him and we used his ideas and principles from time to time. We meet on the lower level in the corner room on your left as you enter the church from the parking lot and come down the stairs.  We welcome new members and visitors.  Current members are Kathy Costello, Jerry and Joanne Arbaugh, Bill Boley, Bill and Sharon Ballenger, and Pat Witthauer..  We use denomination's  Sunday School material and discuss the topics as they apply to our everyday life. We get new books every three months.  Bill Boley and Sharon Ballenger provide leadership for the class. If you have questions, please ask one of us.

The Forum Class - This class is directed toward the Senior Adult. Four teachers share the responsibility of teaching week to week. We remember those who are ill with our prayers, cards and visits. Members of the class also participate in volunteer work. The Forum Class averages 12-15 people in attendance each week. The members of this class enjoy the class very much and feel they are truly blessed.
